INSIGNIA TOWERS

There are few condominiums more notable, more desirable, more classy in Seattle than Insignia Towers. The twin, 41-story pillars of success and status are located on Belltown’s eastern edge, just blocks from Amazon’s iconic headquarters to the southeast, about a 15-minute walk to the Google campus on Mercer Street in South Lake Union and offering a 98 Walk Score.

The first high-rise condo built since 2009, Insignia offers contemporary styling, luxurious finishes, breathtaking views, central city location, 24-hour concierge and some of the best amenities available in Seattle. You will be amazed by the seventh-floor open air park as well as the rooftop Sky Retreat high above the city.

The south tower, located at 588 Bell Street, opened in 2015 and quickly sold its high-profile units. The north tower, at 583 Battery Street, was unveiled a year later. There are 698 thoughtfully designed homes in the complex (and about 1,000 parking spaces underground), with expansive windows, tasteful touches and high-end appliances throughout.

Impress your friends by hosting parties at the reservable Sky Retreat on the 41st floor. Stay fit at the two-level fitness center, spa and lap pool. Enjoy watching the big game in the state-of-the-art screening room. Take your pooch to the dog run. Have fun in the top-floor game room, with bar and TV. It’s city living to the extreme.

Northwest MLS and homeowners association data show the community is about two-thirds owner-occupied and approximately 7% of all units are bought and sold each year (three-year running average). In other words, there is a home on the right floor, with the right view, at the right size available most days of the year.

INSIGNIA

The Neighborhood

Picture Insignia Towers as the hub to multiple spokes of the city – all within walking distance. To the north and west of Insignia, people attend events year-round at Seattle Center, including the fully rebuilt Climate Pledge Arena. To the east and north, South Lake Union is expanding its research & development footprint while also showcasing some of the newest and hottest places to eat, drink and be merry.

To the south and east, Amazon HQ beckons, with all of its biospheric beauty and multiple satellite office buildings. Further south, the city’s retail core includes Nordstrom, Uniqlo, Lululemon and many more clothing and shoe retailers as well as two multiplex theaters and many performance venues.

And to the west, there are hundreds of places to wine, dine and party hearty. There are also tourist landmarks - the Space Needle, Olympic Sculpture Park, Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum and the original Starbucks to name a few.

Local nightlife is centered around 1st and 2nd avenues in Belltown and on Capitol Hill. The new arena in Seattle Center is an entertainment hotbed, hosting about 200 events a year, including the NHL's Seattle Kraken, WNBA's Seattle Storm, as well as big-name concerts. There's even a fun walking tour of the venue on select dates throughout the year.

Yes, Insignia sits in the center of it all.

The History

The area in and around Insignia was once home to various retail shops, motels and car dealerships. Even Teatro ZinZanni’s famous big tent hosted dining & entertainment shows where Insignia stands proudly today.

In 2007, Embassy Development bought the property between 5th and 6th avenues and Battery and Bell streets for $49.9 million. Soon after, the Vancouver, B.C., developer won approval from the city to build two, 440-foot condo towers on the 1.9-acre parcel of land with a projected completion in 2011.

The U.S. recession of the late 2000s hurt the economic aspirations of many businesses, including property development. The boom of new apartment and condominium buildings came to a halt across the nation and in Seattle.

Embassy Development canceled the project in 2008 amid the economic downturn and later sold the property to Bosa Development, which is owned by the father of Embassy’s company. A year later Bosa decided to move forward with the same project, in what one real estate analyst described as “an extraordinarily bold move” given the timing.

In mid-2015, five-plus years after breaking ground, the 41-story south tower at 588 Bell Street was finished. The north tower at 583 Battery Street sprung from the ground a year later.
